The most used functions in a Shopify web shops control panel
So how can you use Shopify to make your daily life as a webshop owner easier? Read on to find out.
Once logged in, your control panel will be divided into easy-to-understand menu items on the left.
At "orders" in you can get an overview of all your orders. The orders are divided according to which ones are being processed, which ones are completed, which ones need payment and which ones a customer has left in the basket without completing the purchase.
All your orders are listed simultaneously in dated order - and there are search functions so you can easily find a specific order.
Customer overview
Under "Customers" you get an overview of your online customers.
Here you can see what purchases each customer has made, when they last shopped with you - and whether they receive your newsletter.
Administration of warehouses
Depending on your preferences, you can choose whether the inventory of your shop should be updated automatically or manually.
You also have the option of integrating your webshop with your company's accounting and warehouse.
Under "Analytics" you can also pull various reports, with data on how many new customers versus returning customers have shopped with you - how they have moved on your site - and where the visitors have come from when they have clicked into your shop.
Creation of discounts, sales and vouchers
Like the other features on Shopify, you don't need any kind of technical savvy to create discounts and other sales in the control panel.
Under "Discounts" you can easily and quickly create new discounts and delete old ones. You can create several different types of discounts - the options include
- Discount as a specific amount the merchant can deduct from his order
- Discount in percent
- Discount in the form of free shipping
If your product is one that can be given as a gift, you can also create gift cards on your webshop with a few clicks.
Everything else - pages and blog posts
Shopify is a CMS, which means that it is not only used as a webshop, but also as a content system for the rest of a new website.
You can therefore also create ordinary landing pages and blog posts through Shopify.
You do this under "pages" and "blogposts" respectively, as we briefly show in the video above.
